You might think that running a marathon is an unusual reason for launching a jewellery brand.
When I ran the London Marathon four years ago, I learned that marathons are run with the mind, not the body. My biggest enemy was the voice in my head telling me that I could stop all this pain by just slowing down to a walk. The only way to block out that voice was to repeat positive mantras.
That’s when I realised the power that words have, to change your mindset.
And for me, jewellery is the best way of carrying inspiring words with you – because it is personal – you wear it close to your skin; portable – you carry it with you by wearing it; precious, in what it is made of, or what it means to you; and acts as a prompt or reminder, through the day.
So, I created Mantra Jewellery in 2016, to bring together the power of words with the beauty of jewellery.
I have 14 years’ experience in jewellery, with my retail business, Fabulous; and in 2017, I won the NatWest Everywoman Businesswoman of the Year; while Mantra won ‘Brand to Watch’ at the UK Jewellery Awards.
