Charlie is a mindfulness teacher and the manager of Breathing Space. Breathing Space is a long-standing health and wellbeing project run by the London Buddhist Centre. Since 2002 it has run mindfulness courses to combat depression, stress and anxiety. It is the home of both Kindness Behaviour Training and Mindfulness Based Addiction Training, designed by the founder Dr Paramabandhu Groves.
This year Charlie plans to extend Breathing Space’s reach into the local community. He runs events that aim to reduce the effects of loneliness by promoting peer networks, social cohesion, and empowerment. Having been a carer for family member himself, Charlie is passionate about helping unpaid carers. He runs day retreats, groups and residential retreats for local carers throughout the year. Charlie is also a Buddhist training for ordination and practicing within the Triratna Buddhist Community.
