Lise McNamara
Occupational Therapist, Kinesiologist, Well-Being and Working Environment Facilitator
McNamara Focus representing Kinesiology Federation

Lise’s life changed drastically when her late partner was diagnosed with a terminal illness 10 years ago.  A successful career in Denmark in the field of psychosocial, ergonomics, well-being and working environment was turned upside down.  She had been very good at being an expert in others’ lives; listening and interpreting their signals; as a consultant taking responsibility for their change and coming with answers.  Suddenly, it was about living every moment she had left with her partner.

After her partner’s death it was time to listen to and heal herself.  She gave herself permission to use as much time and means as necessary.  Her journey started with biking and walking the Camino de Santiago across Spain for 3 months.  The routes have been used for centuries with a focus on mindfulness.  Giving herself room to listen she learnt that she needed to find a new purpose to her life which pointed in the direction of studying Kinesiology.

Studying Kinesiology was chosen over other complementary health practices because the client stays the expert in their own life.  The Kinesiologist explores where imbalances could be and the client’s body answers.  Their answers are retrieved not only from the conscious level but also subconscious and body conscious level.

Through the meditative time on the Camino, Lise found her current sense of purpose.  Her previous professional expertise, life experience and recent qualifications as a practitioner and teacher of Kinesiology give her the sound basis to support others find the freedom to be their best selves.
