Katie has lived in Manchester since she first came to University here as a teenager. Well known for her online course ‘Mindfulness for Anxiety’ and her gratitude App “Appreciating Windowsills’, she runs regular events for the public as well as delivering corporate workshops and conference sessions for a wide range of audiences. She offers you a free, interactive website at www.soulnutrition.org that includes the Mindful Eating photographic food diary ‘Nourish’ and ‘The Happiness Calendar’ gratitude diary.
Raised in the hospitality industry, Katie saw from an early age how food is used to bring people together and form the heart of happy memories. She went on to study the ways in which food can be used to support both physical and psychological health, and has travelled extensively to teach on nutrition and mindfulness.
She holds a Masters degree in Education, a Post Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education, and is a Fellow of The Higher Education Academy. She has taught in academic settings including the Masters Science degree in Nutritional Therapy at the University of Worcester, the Diploma in Naturopathic Nutrition for the College of Naturopathic Medicine, and CPD events for Lamberts Healthcare. She has also written and presented both one-day short courses and online courses for the Institute for Optimum Nutrition.
Katie has been practicing mindfulness in her own life for over 16 years and is a member of The Heart of Manchester and Stockport Sanghas, part of a growing network of groups composed of people from a wide range of faith backgrounds who aspire to develop peace in themselves and in the world through the practice of mindful living. These Sanghas are supported by The Community of Interbeing, a registered educational charity that offers mindfulness in the tradition of Zen Buddhist Master Thich Nhat Hanh, who was proposed for a Nobel Peace Prize by Martin Luther King in 1967.
