Karen Atkinson is becoming increasingly recognised for her unique, warm and practical way of delivering mindfulness and compassion skills both in the UK and internationally.  
Having gained a Nursing Degree and RGN in London, Karen has been teaching mindful movement for nearly 30 years and using mindfulness clinically for 17 years.
Her knowledge is steeped in learning, practice and application, training with Bangor and Breathworks, intertwined with her own clinical and philosophical path.
She has been privileged to offer the empowering and transformative qualities of mindfulness and compassion skills to NHS patients, groups, in workplaces and organisations eg Social Work Managers, having delivered over 70 MBSR courses.
Setting up MindfulnessUK 7 years ago, Karen was at the front of the wave, delighted to recognise that a paradigm shift was happening. A Member of the UK Network of Teacher Training Organisations, MindfulnessUK offers courses to gain qualifications, professional supervision, workshops and retreats. Her team also develop inspirational programmes for use in a whole range of settings including schools and care.
In addition to training others to teach the MBSR programme, Karen feels immense joy in having written, developed and delivering, with her Associate Tutors, the ground-breaking course “Integrating Mindfulness and Compassion in Professional Practice”. This CPCAB accredited qualification enables therapists, teachers, healthcare providers and other professionals to offer these practices and skills to their clients therapeutically.
Karen regularly presents her research findings at conferences, writes articles, is a guest on the radio and teaches professionals throughout Europe.
