“A little thoughtfulness goes a long way” were words my Mum used to say when I was growing up. She was a person who never failed to send some carefully chosen words to friends and family in both happy and sad times. Now she is gone, letters from her are my most precious possessions along with memories of her sitting at her beloved typewriter.
My company Friendinabox has been inspired by her and it is my hope that in this busy world we can help make it easy to show we care by sending the right words at the right time along with a small thoughtful gift.
I have a degree in languages and have travelled extensively in my previous career, which involved helping businesses and government departments communicate more effectively across borders and cultures.
Thoughtfulness and reaching out to others can be a great tool for coping with personal problems and has helped me personally following my father’s suicide and during several bouts of depression and anxiety.
Here at Friendinabox I see beautiful letters of support, friendship, love and appreciation. Feedback from recipients shows that these letters and the thoughts behind them make a big impact which in turn makes me very happy.

Letter writing can be extremely cathartic and rewarding and is another opportunity for mindfulness. Come and write a letter with us. Short or long. An apology, a thank you, share news or reminisce or even write a letter to yourself or your future self.
