From humble beginnings in 2001 to international recognition, Breathworks' mission is to bring mindfulness as a tool for reducing suffering to people worldwide; regardless of their situation.
Breathworks offers a toolkit of knowledge for lifelong use, drawing on the best of mindfulness practice and the founders’ personal experience.
Our mindfulness courses, teacher training programme and workplace programmes have been developed to meet the needs of everyone living with chronic pain, physical illness and stress. They are designed to ensure that regardless of your situation or condition, you can have access to the Breathworks methods.
We also provide specialist programmes for the workplace and for health, education and social care professionals wishing to incorporate mindfulness into their work.
Breathworks programmes and products are a development of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) adapted to suit the needs of those with chronic pain, illness or stress and founded on practice-based research. Our research on the clinical benefits of mindfulness revealed that across all scales measured (mood, pain experience, quality of life, catastrophising, and confidence in activity despite pain), the Breathworks approach showed statistically and clinically significant improvement.
Our charitable arm The Breathworks Foundation, is a UK registered charity formed in 2009. This has aims to promote research and to provide bursaries for people who cannot afford to attend courses.
Breathworks is a founding member of the UK Network of Mindfulness-Based Teacher Training Organisations.
