Life Happens Mindfulness is a multi-dynamic mindfulness-based approach that forms the foundation for the work implemented through books, programmes, workshops and therapeutic sessions. Developed by Consultant Clinical Psychologist, mindfulness teacher and author, Dr Cheryl Rezek, it brings a fresh and vibrant mind/body mindset to managing life and all that comes with it, for both children and adults. The overload of jargon, unrealistic expectations, celebrity obsession and media hype offer an illusion of a fix, of a new and improved you. You don’t need to be fixed or to seek a new you. Instead, what may be of benefit is the same you who can be more aware, appreciative and adaptive to what comes with being alive in an unpredictable life.
By recognising the influences of your personal experiences (your internal dynamics and mechanisms) that have taken place within a broader context (your genetics, social, cultural and familial settings), and integrating them with the mindset and meditation practices of mindfulness, it allows you to see yourself as a multi-dynamic and shifting being within a constantly changing world.
This approach accepts your humanness in all its forms, but it also encourages you to acknowledge the many resources already present within you that often go unrecognised or underdeveloped. It provides a coherent view of who you are today and how you came to be like this, and it opens you to a greater sense of nurturance, compassion and gratitude, and a capacity to live well even in the face of adversity and challenge.
